Dear Madam,
Miss Christina McLeish
I have your favour of 30th. ulto., and was very surprised
to note the contents. I have got no definite information so far, but am making enquiries from her brother.
I am afraid Miss McLeish has got married to a German Naval Officer, and probably now is resident in Germany This I gather
from a letter to an Uncle of mine, which is dated August 18th. last
from Hong Kong, in which she states that she is in China but believes
she will go to reside and settle in Germany sometime at the end of
1909, probably in November.
She was on friendly terms with a
German Naval Officer while she was in Colombo, and there was word of
their marriage at that time, but nothing came of it. I think he
must have turned up, or she may have left Hong Kong to join him
somewhere.
I am writing to her brother and shall inform you at once
if I get any definite word from him
I find in the letter to my uncle that Miss McLeish says
Would this coincide
she leaves Hong Kong first week in November.
with her disappearance?
Yours faithfully,
(Sgd.) G.Clunie Macgregor.
